At a priests’ assembly convened at the St. George’s Cultural Center in Larnaca, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Kition announced his intention to resign from his position to the priests of the city and district of Larnaca.
In his speech in which he announced his resignation, he referred to his 46-year ministry in the Metropolis of Kition.
During his archieratic ministry, the Metropolis granted land property not only to several charitable institutions, but also to the state such as for the construction of the Larnaca Hospital.
He also stressed that, when he assumed the leadership, the Metropolis was in debt, and at the time of his resignation the Metropolis had a robust reserve.
Then he stressed that he was resigning from the Metropolitan Throne, but not from the archieratic ministry.
“I will be here and I will do my best to offer my services to my successor, the Metropolis, and the missionary work,” he said.
