A delegation from the Holy Metropolis of Italy, led by Metropolitan Polycarp of Italy, embarked on a visit to Constantinople that will last from February 27 to March 01, 2024.
The delegation consists of Assistant Bishops George of Krateia (Naples), Dionysius of Kotia (Bologna), Athenagoras of Thermi (Montaner Treviso), Archimandrite Gregory (Trieste), Ioannis (Milan), Nikolaos (Florence), Symeon (Rome), Benedict (Seminar of Reggio Calabria), Protopresbyter Sergios (Vigevano, PV), and the architect Avogadro, who serves as a technical advisor to the Metropolis.
The purpose of their visit is to extend their respects to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the occasion of his 84th birthday, which falls on February 29. The delegation will have a special audience with the Ecumenical Patriarch on Wednesday afternoon, February 28. Additionally, they will participate in a luncheon hosted by the Ecumenical Patriarch in Chalcedon on Thursday, February 29, to celebrate his birthday.
