Today, our Church commemorates the martyr Ariadne.
Holy Martyr Ariadne lived during the reigns of Emperors Hadrian (117-138 AD) and Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD). She was a slave girl of the chief ruler of the city of Prymenseos in Phrygia.
Once her master was celebrating his son’s birthday and invited Ariadne to the temple of the idols to celebrate with them. But the Saint refused the invitation. Then the Lord ordered his men to torture her ruthlessly, which resulted in her death.
