Archbishop Makarios of Australia had a private meeting with Bishop Themistocles of Nicopolis of the Patriarchate of Alexandria during his recent visit to Melbourne.
The Archbishop had the opportunity to be thoroughly informed about the missionary work that the Orthodox Church is carrying out on the African continent through the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. He also congratulated the Bishop of Nicopolis for his tireless struggle in Sierra Leone and wished him health and strength, and to continue to offer his fellow man with the same missionary zeal. Finally, he asked the Bishop to convey his warm and cordial greetings to Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.
For his part, Bishop Themistocles, after inviting the Archbishop of Australia to visit Sierra Leone, an invitation which Archbishop Makarios accepted with pleasure, then thanked him warmly for his unconditional interest in issues related to the missionary work on the African continent, as well as for the constant and practical support of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
