“The Holy Synod met on July 24, 2023, under the presidency of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Chalki.
On the occasion of the terrible wildfires in Rhodes, the Holy Synod expressed its deepest sympathy and that of the Great Church of Christ to the shepherd of the island, who was understandably absent in his Diocese, to the local authorities and to the greatly tested people. We wish that the Lord God always saves His inheritance.
During this session, at the suggestion of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bishop Apostolos of Medeia was unanimously elected Metropolitan of New Jersey by the Holy and Sacred Synod, by a triprosopon appointed by the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Holy Archdiocese of America. The Metropolitan read the announcement of his election (Mikro Minima) and the Formal Election Announcement (Mega Minima) on the same day.
Finally, all the matters on the daily agenda were addressed, on which the appropriate decisions were taken.”
