The intention of the Greek State to establish the celebration of the Day of the Greek Diaspora was announced, in a letter to the expatriate bodies, by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for the Hellenism Abroad, Kostas Vlasis.
The purpose of the initiative is, according to Vlasis, the recognition of the historical role and the valuable contribution of the Greek Diaspora in the development and progress of the modern Greek state.
In this context, he invites Greeks everywhere to become participants and companions in the initiative of the Greek State and to submit their proposals for the date of celebration of the Day of the Greek Diaspora.
“Your participation will be once again a practical proof that all together, we can achieve our great goal, which is none other than to bring the Hellenism of the Diaspora closer to the motherland”, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined.
