On February 22, Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia received the visit of Mircea Abrudean, the head of the Romanian Prime Minister’s Chancellery.
The Romanian official extended the Metropolis of Bessarabia a message of support.
Metropolitan Petru thanked the Government of Romania for its ongoing assistance to the Bessarabian community, particularly for supplementing clerical salaries beginning in 2023 and for the financial support required to continue constructing and restoring places of worship across the Republic of Moldova.
The head of the Chancellery of the Romanian Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Metropolis of Bessarabia as the spiritual center of Romanians in the Republic of Moldova.
At the meeting, several key concerns for the Metropolis of Bessarabia were discussed, including the need to defend and promote the religious rights and freedoms of the Orthodox community in the Republic of Moldova.
Through this visit, the Romanian government demonstrated its commitment to providing ongoing assistance for developing the local community and preserving Romanian traditions and spiritual values.
