The groundbreaking ceremony for the new church community center building project for Saint Demetrios in Merrick, Long Island was a momentous occasion, marked by the presence of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.
The beloved community gathered to witness this historic event, celebrating a significant milestone in their spiritual journey.
The Archbishop’s presence lent an air of solemnity and joy, as he blessed the ground where the new church community center would stand.
This remarkable achievement was a testament to the incredible leadership and tireless dedication of their parish priest, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Nikiforos Fakinos whose unwavering commitment together with the parish council has inspired and unified the congregation. Together, they stood on the threshold of a new chapter, filled with hope and faith for the future.
“Let us grow a harvest of community service and ministry that is based in love and mercy. And let us always welcome the strangers into our midst, and make them our friends” remarked Archbishop Elpidophoros.
