Every year, the Greek Welfare Center of Victoria of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia organized a food fundraiser during the Easter period in order to support families facing financial problems.
These fundraisers of the Greek Welfare Center of Victoria have been organized every Christmas and Easter for the last 20 years.
The food was collected in the churches of the city of Melbourne and then transported to the premises of the Greek Welfare Center at the Axion Esti Monastery in Northcote, where the packages were prepared and distributed with the help of volunteers.
During this year’s effort, the Greek Welfare Center supported 250 families, distributing food in 64 different suburbs of Melbourne.
The Center warmly thanked the entrepreneurs and the people who for all these years stand by this effort. It also addressed a big “thank you” to the volunteers who assisted in the packaging and distribution of food, as, without their help, as pointed out, this fundraiser would not have been possible.
