The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Elpidophoros of Bursa who is the Abbot of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Halki.
Alexis Tsipras arrived at the Halki seminary accompanied by his partner, Betty Baziana.
Then they went to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, where the Prime Minister lit a candle and attended the liturgy officiated by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
He is currently touring the Halki seminary and will have a meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch.
Alexis Tsipras, who is now in Istanbul, visited Hagia Sophia earlier this morning.
İbrahim Kalın, spokesperson of the Turkish President, Tayyip Erdogan, will be accompanying the Greek prime minister. Minister of Education, Kostas Gavroglou, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Affairs, Giorgos Katrougalos, Deputy Minister of Foreign, Markos Bolaris, and his partner, Peristera Baziana, will be accompanying the prime minister, as well.
The Greek prime minister refused to make a statement, saying that he is very happy to be in such a historic place.
