Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Vlasis has visited the holy site of the under construction St. Nicholas Church at Ground Zero, in New York accompanied by the Consul General, Konstantinos Koutras.
In a post on Facebook, Deputy Minister Vlasis stressed that the temple’s opening in September 2021, “on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, will be a powerful message of peace, unity and brotherhood.”

During his visit to New York, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is expected to meet with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, also visited the Hellenic Classical Charter School.
As she mentions, “Children from many countries around the world learn Greek as a second language. Congratulations to the teachers and all the staff who keep the Greek spirit alive through their efforts.”
