On Saturday, January 27, 2024, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America officiated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Sts. Constantine and Helen of Ilioupolis, Thessaloniki.
During this service, Archbishop Elpidophoros ordained Deacon Petros Gomez of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America to the priesthood.
The location was meaningful to both Archbishop Elpidophoros, who had often attended this church as a teenager, and to Fr. Gomez, who was a student at the School of Theology in Thessaloniki. Fr. Gomez will lead the Spanish-speaking mission of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
