The excellent presentations and speeches delivered by the four Metropolitans from the Church of Greece, were met with great success and acceptance. The Greek Metropolitans arrived in Sydney and were invited by Archbishop Makarios of Australia, in order to speak in the first part (Theology and Ecclesiology) of the 12th Clergy-Laity Assembly of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
The presentations of the Metropolitans had the following topics:
– Presentation by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia: “Priesthood: Charisma in the Church and ministry in the world”.
– Presentation by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupolis: “The syndrome of mental exhaustion (burn out) and the clergyman”.
– Presentation by Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petra and Herronissos: “In the Church you walk: the unity of the local Church ensured through the bishop.”
– Presentation by Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos: “In the Church you walk: tendencies of autonomy of our ministry from the local Church”.
The Archbishop of Australia, as well as the Bishops, the clergy and the people, received the wise presentations of the Greek Metropolitans with great satisfaction and thanked the rapporteurs, confessing that their speeches were an intensive ecclesiology lesson.
