Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described Cyprus, Israel and Syria as “criminal states,” noting that “those who spoke against us are now sitting down to talk to us.”
In a statement after the Turkish cabinet meeting, he said that Turkey was under economic attack.
He stressed, as reported by kathimerini.gr citing information by skai.gr, that “we have been under siege for the last 10 years from the Caucasus to the Eastern Mediterranean, from the Balkans to Syria.”
On Monday, the Turkish president also met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who is visiting Greece on Tuesday.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said after a meeting with Stoltenberg that “Greece sent warships to our continental shelf while we were conducting research,” and added that NATO had intervened as it saw the probability of conflict.
