On Saturday afternoon, 16 September 2023, the Festive Great Vespers in memory of Saint Sophia and her three daughters, Faith, Hope and Love, were celebrated with ecclesiastical splendour at the Church of Saint Sophia and Three Daughters in Taylor Square, Sydney.
Archbishop Makarios of Australia who officiated at the Vespers Service, spoke appropriately to the large congregation about the honoured Saints and especially about the three daughters of Saint Sophia, who, raised with the threads of the Christian faith, courageously confessed Christ, endured horrible tortures and were finally beheaded by the persecutors of Christians.
At the end of the Vespers Service, the faithful, full of emotion, exclaimed “Worthy / Άξιος ” for their Parish Priest, Father Irenaeus Triantis, who received the office of Archimandrite through the hands of Archbishop Makarios. Addressing Father Irenaeus, the Archbishop praised his ecclesiastical attitude, as well as the hard work and dedication he displays, while he expressed the certainty that he will be worthy of the honour given to him by the local Church and will continue his ministry with even greater holy zeal.
