The first Interparliamentary World Conference on Interfaith Dialogue was held in Marrakesh, Morocco, from June 13 to 15, with the theme: “Working together for our common future”.
Representatives of parliaments, religious leaders, and representatives of religious communities and organizations met and discussed the many different ways of building relationships and cooperation between parliamentary groups and religious communities and came up with specific proposals for the parliaments.
Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon also spoke at the conference. Also present were Metropolitan Meletios of Carthage and North Africa, with priests from the parish of the Annunciation of Our Lady of Casablanca, as well as representatives of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Sergios Voilas represented the Inter-Orthodox Centre of the Church of Greece.
The conference was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco.
