The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar, on Holy Monday Monday, April 18, 2022.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Ecumenical Patriarch went to the Canopy of preparation of The Holy Myrrh, in the presence of the Hierarchs, the Patriarchal Court, and the faithful, where he performed the Sanctification rite, with which he sprinkled and sanctified the boilers.
He then read the special prayers for the beginning of the process of preparation of the Holy Myrrh and poured into the boilers a quantity of oil, wine, perfumes, and flowers, and then lit the fire to start the procedure. Immediately afterwards, the first chapter of the Gospel of Matthew was read.
Then, the Hierarchs and clergymen continued, in succession, reading chapters from the Holy Gospel.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Patriarch presided at the Bridegroom Service.
