On Monday, November 2, 2020, Stefano Toma, clergyman of the Holy Metropolis of Germany, was ordained Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
His ordination took place at the Patriarchal Chapel of St. Andrew in Phanar in the presence of clergy and laity of the Patriarchal Court.
“Your ordination to Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne takes place in the Holy Patriarchal Chapel of Saint Andrew the First- Called Apostle with joy and reverence”, said the Ecumenical Patriarch addressing Fr. Stefanos and continued:
“Through your ministry in Germany, the supranational character of Orthodoxy is highlighted and the untimely claim of those who still believe that Orthodoxy remains trapped in orthodoxism and ethnocentrism is nullified.
Indeed, the ministry of the Church and the pastoral act are “the culmination of theory” and the theological education is enrichment and support for the work of the clergy”.
