“The Ecumenical Patriarchate will always be the first Church to highlight the spiritual and moral dimension of the environmental issues and the environmental dimension of the Christian faith.”
Those were the words of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during a meeting he held with the President of the Hellenic Recycling Agency (EOAN), Nikos Chiotakis, yesterday, February 26, at the Phanar.
The focus of the discussion was on the particular care and initiatives taken by the Ecumenical Patriarch regarding the environmental protection, which are included in the new EOAN management’s action plan.
Chiotakis pointed out that EOAN’s strategic goals are to consolidate the environmental awareness of all interested parties on waste prevention and alternative management, waste minimization and promotion of recycling through alternative management systems. As he emphasized, “The assistance of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is very important.”
