Following the invitation of Pope Francis, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew prayed for an end to the pandemic. He also sent a message of support to the Italian people in Italian.
In particular, the Ecumenical Patriarch said that Pope Francis invited last Sunday all religious leaders around the world to come together at noon on Wednesday and to pray to God (our father) asking for help in the current crisis.
A few members of the Patriarchal Court attended the Ecumenical Patriarch’s prayer at the Patriarchal Chapel of Saint Andreas.
The statement of the Ecumenical Patriarch is the following:
His Holiness Pope Francis invited on Sunday the religious leaders around the world and all Christians to pray today, on Wednesday, at noon. We will all pray to our Father asking for mercy and help in the crisis all humanity has been going through recently.
Responding to Pope Francis’ brotherly invitation, we gathered with some of the members of the Patriarchal Court at the Patriarchal Chapel of Saint Andreas in order to pray and, being spiritually united with Pope Francis and all Christians, we ask the Lord for help.
