Arriving from Halki on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited the Holy Monastery of Valoukli.
There, he performed a Trisagion service to honor the memory of his predecessor, Photios II, whose final resting place is in the Patriarchal Cemetery within the monastery’s courtyard.
Additionally, the Ecumenical Patriarch offered prayers for late Metropolitan Photios of Iraklia and his relative from Imbros, Archimandrite Photios Georgiadis. The latter, a graduate of the Theological School of Halki, had dedicated many years to priesthood before passing away in Romania.
