Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew congratulated Archbishop Nikitas of Thyatira and Great Britain on his election to the position of President of the Conference of European Churches, in the relevant procedure for the selection of a new Board of Directors held during the sitting of the Organization’s General Assembly, on Monday, June 19, 2023.
The new President will have a five-year term in the important position he deservedly assumed.
After his election, the Archbishop stated that being a Christian means entering into dialogue with other people and other Christian Communities. “Yes, of course we have our differences, but we have so much in common: Jesus Christ,” Archbishop Nikitas emphasized and continued: “We must get to know each other, we must cooperate.” For the Archbishop of Thyateira, being President of the CEC means being a shepherd of a flock.
It is recalled that the Ecumenical Patriarch delivered the keynote speech at the General Assembly of the Conference of European Churches, last Sunday, June 18, 2023.
