The Cretan Association of Sydney and New South Wales, in collaboration with the Cretan Federation of Australia & New Zealand and the World Council of Cretans, hosted a dinner in honour of the Cretan Hierarchs, who honoured the 12th Clergy-Laity Congress of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia with their presence.
It was a night full of emotion, during which the Cretan youth of Sydney performed Cretan dances in honour of the invited guests.
Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petra and Cherronesos and Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymnos and Avlopotamos were welcomed by the President of the Cretan Association of Sydney Emmanuel Vitetzakis and then by the President of the Cretan Federation of Australia & New Zealand, Tony Tsourdalakis. Tsourdalakis expressed his joy and satisfaction at the presence of the Cretan Hierarchs in the fifth continent, through which they first honoured Archbishop Makarios of Australia and secondly all the Greeks of Oceania.
Tsourdalakis did not fail to express his thanks for the hospitality, the love and affection which the Holy Hierarchs showed to the Expatriate Cretans of Australia, last July in Crete.
The event was also honoured with the presence of Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Bishop Silouan of Sinope, and the President of the Parish of Saint Spyridon, Sydney, Elias Economou.
After the formal Dinner, gifts were given to all the guests from Greece.
