Following the resignation, which was accepted by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Greeks, Antonis Diamataris, stated, “I have been dealing with the issues of the Greek diaspora for decades. My only concern over the years is to contribute to the Greek Community. That is why it was a great honor to accept the proposal by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to become Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Diaspora Greeks.
I have been receiving personal attacks in the last few days, which are a mere distraction, with the aim of attacking the government and the prime minister, whom I love and appreciate, as well as undermining the work I carried out. For this reason, I submitted, with great pain, to Kyriakos Mitsotakis my resignation as Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Greeks.”
It is recalled that Antonis Diamataris was caught in the storm of a political scandal in recent days, as he falsely claimed in his CV that he held an MA from Columbia University.
