Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received today, Friday, November 6, 2020, in Phanar, hierarchs and other clergy of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine, under the leadership of Metropolitan Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vyshnev.
The Ukrainian hierarchs and clergy offered symbolic gifts to the Patriarch and the Patriarch reciprocated.
The Ecumenical Patriarch assured the delegation of the Church of Ukraine of His constant care and prayer for Ukraine and its people.
The Ukrainian hierarchs thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for His personal efforts and historical actions that gave prominence to the country and its Local Church, with the granting of Autocephaly by Phanar.
On behalf of Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Archbishop Petros Ladvitovich presented to the Patriarch an artistic sculpture of the patron saint of Kyiv, Archangel Michael. The Patriarch assured that this sculpture will always be in his office.
Metropolitan Alexander presented to the Patriarch a reliquary with fragments of the remains of martyrs of Ukraine, as well as four volumes of hagiological content published in Ukrainian.
The Patriarch was also offered an embroidered Ukrainian shirt, which He particularly liked.
The Delegation of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine is in Constantinople for the Ordination of the Elected Bishop Michael (Anischenko) of Komana, Exarch of the Ecumenical Throne in Kyiv, which will take place next Sunday (November 8, 2020) in the Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Mega Revma. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will preside over the ordination.
