Archbishop Elpidophoros of America will convene a national conference on Greek Education with the theme: “The Vision for Greek Education in the United States.”
The conference will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the facilities of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Flushing (196-10 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY 11358), between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm, and will be attended by representatives of organisations of the Church and the Omogeneia, representatives of the academic world, educators and clergy from across the country and the Archdiocese.
Archbishop Elpidophoros has expressed since the first moment his particular interest in the course and future of our schools in America. This conference on education and the future of the Archdiocesan schools will attempt, through dialogue and a fruitful exchange of views of all stakeholders, to arrive at conclusions and a new roadmap for the better organisation of our Schools.
The Archbishop will present the keynote address, followed by presentations by educators and clergymen on the role of the Archdiocese in Greek education, the teaching of Greek Language, and the existing models of Day, Afternoon and Charter Schools.
A Coordinating Committee, appointed by the Archbishop, is charged with organising the conference and is comprised of Bishop of Apostolos of Medeia as President, and the following members: Protopresbyters Paul Palesty and Nikiforos Fakinos, Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis, Director of Greek Education; Athena Kromidas and Nikos Andriotis.
