Unknown offenders desecrated the historic Church of St. George in Lynn, Massachusetts, by spray painting a Circle-A on the brick façade of the temple.
The icon of St. George and the icon of the Virgin were found spray painted with the number “666”. Both icons are made of mosaic and adorn the entrance to the temple.
Father George Tsoukalas, the chief of the parish, said that the police and the mayor of Lynn arrived at the spot, who regretted the incident saying this act was not only against the Church, but also against the city of Lin.
It is recalled that on Sunday morning, September 1, the Consulate General of Greece in New York was vandalised.
