The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with representatives of the two largest political parties in Turkey, the ruling AKP and the Main Opposition CHP, in Imbros.
Specifically, the Ecumenical Patriarch received today, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Metropolitan Palace of Imbros, a delegation of the AKP under Yücel Atalay, a high-ranking member of the government party in Ankara and former Mayor of Imbros.
Yesterday, the Ecumenical Patriarch received a delegation of the CHP under Özgür Ceylan, MP of the Çanakkale Prefecture.
Both delegations expressed their interest, in view of the forthcoming elections, in the issues of concern to the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Community.
During His stay in His hometown, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited the deputy Mayor Ercan İpek, as well as the Police Directorate of the island, on the occasion of Police Day.
