With the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, on Tuesday, 31 January 2023, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta conducted the Agiasmos Blessing for the beginning of the New School Year at Saint John’s College in Preston, Melbourne.
Bishop Evmenios, who was joined by priests of the Archdiocesan District of Northcote, at the end of the Agiasmos spoke to the teachers and students of the school, as well as to members of the children’s families who were also present. After conveying to them the wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia welcomed all the children and with special warmth the new students who joined the large family of Saint John’s College this year.
Also, Bishop Evmenios urged the students and teachers to make every possible effort this year to progress, keeping in mind that success is measured not only by achievements but also by the struggle and effort we make.
It is worth pointing out that this year 327 students will be sitting at the desks of Saint John’s College, which is the highest number since 2008.
Referring to this great achievement, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta recalled the crucial support provided to the school by Archbishop Makarios and the local Church, while at the same time, he recognized the dedication with which the board of trustees, the school management, the teaching staff, as well as the students and their families work. “When we are all united and loving and work together sharing the same vision, then and only then does the miracle happen,” Bishop Evmenios concluded.
