This morning Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Archiepiscopal Vicar of Canberra, attended the service for the commencement of the Tasmanian Parliament at the Anglican Cathedral of St David’s in Hobart.
This was a great honour for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, as it was the first time that an Orthodox Bishop was invited to attend and partake in the service.
In attendance was the Premier of Tasmania, the Honourable Jeremy Rockliff, the Speaker of the House Assembly, the Honourable Mark Shelton as well as other members of the Tasmanian Parliament.
Accompanying the Bishop was Reverend Dimitrios Katsis, Parish Priest of the church of Holy Trinity, Hobart.
After the service Bishop Bartholomew conveyed to the Premier the love and respect of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and of the Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
