“Today, more than ever, there is an urgent need to strengthen mental health services,” said Archbishop Makarios of Australia in a message on the World Mental Health Day.
The Archbishop focuses on the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic that the humankind is facing threatens not only the physical health of people but also the mental one.
Along with his call for upgrading mental health services, he also calls on everyone to muster their love, compassion and solidarity and to support their neighbor when they find that one is suffering.
Finally, he reminds us that “in every storm of life, in every trial that causes us insecurity, pain and sorrow in the soul, Christ awaits us eagerly as a sheltered and peaceful harbor.”
