The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew had a telephone conversation on Thursday, 9 February 2023, with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, who also verbally expressed his condolences to the victims of the devastating earthquake in south-eastern Turkey.
Archbishop Ieronymos declared to the Ecumenical Patriarch the undivided support of the Holy Church of Greece for the inhabitants of the affected areas tested by the earthquake and the willingness of the Hierarchy, the holy clergy, and faithful people to contribute to the relief efforts.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his and the Mother Church’s warm thanks to Archbishop Ieronymos for the interest and immediate mobilization of the Holy Church of Greece, as, as he said, in these difficult times we all need to show solidarity with the thousands of our fellow human beings.
