Archbishop Elpidophoros of America posted a video in which he spoke about the difficult times we were facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic and urged the faithful to wear a mask.
Moreover, the Archbishop said that he was wearing a mask himself because it was an act of love for his fellow human beings. He added that the virus was not a hoax but a real and present danger. Despite the fatigue and the desire to return to normalcy, he said that there were many vulnerable people who needed our care and concern. Therefore, he stressed that we could protect each other by wearing a mask and by observing social distancing. As a result, he said that we would be able to come together again in the future. He concluded that the principle of the Orthodox Faith was to love God by loving our neighbour.
In addition, he posted above the video the following: “This Thanksgiving, we are facing a critical moment in the health of our country, but just as much, a critical moment in the health of our souls. Let us show our love for one another by protecting the living image of God that is each and every human being.”
