Archbishop Elpidophoros of America is expected to arrive in Cephalonia on October 17, 2023 following the official invitation of Metropolitan Demetrios of Cephalonia to attend the feast of St. Gerasimos. The Feast will take place in the Monastery of St Gerasimos where the Holy Relic of the Saint is kept.
This is an initiative of the historic community of Saint Gerasimos in Manhattan, which was taken by Metropolitan Demetrios. It caused enthusiasm both to the citizens of Cephalonia and to the authorities of the island who prepare many surprises for Archbishop Elpidophoros and the members of the delegation from America.
The Archbishop is expected to be accompanied by Metropolitan Gerasimos of Saint Francis, the Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese, Fr. Nektarios Papazafeiropoulos, the head of Saint Gerasimos in Manhattan, Fr. Panagiotis Papazafeiropoulos, the head of the Cathedral of Saints Constantine and Helen in Brooklyn, Fr. Evagoras Konstantinidis, the archdeacon, Dionysios Papiris and members of the Order of the Archons of Apostle Andrew of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The president of the community of Saint Gerasimos in Manhattan, Gerasimos Athanasatos, who has been in Cephalonia for the last few weeks, is coordinating the events so that the visit of Archbishop Elpidophoros will be successful.
