On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Fr. Apostolos Chasapis to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America headquarters.
The Archbishop appointed Fr. Chasapis as the new parish priest for Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Jackson Heights, New York. Chancellor of the Archdiocesan District Fr. Elias Villis was also present at the meeting.
Fr. Chasapis graduated from the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Athens in 1993 after three years of study. He married Panagoula Stavropoulou in 1995 and was ordained as a deacon by Metropolitan of Argolis Iakovos II later that year. He served as his deacon for 18 months before becoming a priest in March 1997. Fr. Chasapis was appointed vicar in the villages of Fichti & Borsa, where he served until his new appointment. In 2021, Fr. Chasapis attended courses of his degree simulation program at the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academy of Athens, where he successfully received the degree in 2022. Fr. and Presvytera are the parents of five children. The community of Sts. Constantine and Helen is blessed to receive a worthy Proistamenos. Axios!
