The Holy Monastery of Pantocrator was the last stop of the pilgrimage visit of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America to Mount Athos.
During his visit, Archbishop Elpidophoros and his entourage – forty Greek-American businessmen from the USA – visited the monasteries of Xenophontos, Simon Petra, Filotheou, Karakallou and Pantokratoros.
Initially, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived at the Holy Monastery of Xenophontos on Mount Athos, where he performed the Holy Vigil and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Epiphany as well as the Blessing of the Waters on January 19.
Following that, he paid a visit to the Holy Monastery of Philotheos—a visit imbued with special symbolism. The late former abbot of the Monastery, Ephraim, played a pioneering role in establishing numerous monasteries in America that continue to adhere to the Athonite rite to this day.
On the evening of Saturday, January 20, he was at the Simonopetra Monastery and on Sunday, January 21, the Archbishop of America visited the Karakallou Monastery.
In the morning, the Archbishop of America and his entourage visited the cell of St. Anne and then departed by boat for Ouranoupolis.
Immediately afterwards, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America departed Mount Athos in the morning, completing his four-day visit to Mount Athos.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Archbishop of America arrived in Thessaloniki and from today, January 23, he began a series of meetings with institutional and high-profile figures until the end of the week.
