In a post on social media, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America referred to the 56th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, commemorating the late Archbishop of America, Iakovos, as the only national religious leader to participate in the Selma March.
The Archbishop said: “Today is the 56th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma march where many bled for equal rights. Just eight days later, Archbishop Iakovos of blessed memory marched over the same bridge– the only national religious leader, to bridge the divide of racial injustice in America.”
