At the Manhattan headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America appointed Aristomenis “Menios” Papadimitriou as director of the Archdiocesan Archives & Resource Center on Friday September 9, 2022.
An important component of the institution, the Archives & Resource Center systematically collects, organizes, catalogues, and maintains the documents relating to the history of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Greek-American Community.
As a repository of textual resources, the department’s goal is to preserve the American Church’s indelible past, chronicle its present, and provide resources for scholarly research and to those interested in both the unique history of the Archdiocese and the vast richness of the Greek Orthodox tradition and Hellenism in America.
Mr. Papadimitriou, who succeeds the very reverend Archimandrite Bartholomew Mercado, brings his rich historical expertise and diverse institutional leadership to the role.
His doctoral research at Fordham University focuses on contemporary church history, particularly the experience of Orthodox Christianity in America.
The new appointment comes with the outgoing director’s recent appointment as Chaplain and Professor of Canon Law at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mr. Papadimitriou’s appointment is effective immediately.
