Archbishop Makarios of Australia will make his fourth pastoral visit to Perth from the 28 to 31 May, 2022.
The Archdiocesan District of Perth announced the program of Archbishop’s visit, at the same time inviting the entire Greek Orthodox flock to attend the Holy Services and the events that will take place, and to receive the blessing of our Archbishop.
Following is the programme of Archbishop Makarios during his visit to Perth:
Saturday 28th May
12.30 – Arrival at Perth Domestic Airport Virgin Australia (Terminal 1)
All welcome to come and greet the Archbishop.
6.00pm – 8.00pm
Hierarchical Vespers Service at the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene in Northbridge presided by Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
During the Vespers Service, Archbishop Makarios will confer upon Zacchaeus Gerovasilis the title of Reader.
Refreshments will follow in the lower hall of the Hellenic Community Centre
Sunday 29th May
7.00am – 11.00am
Matins Service & Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield officiated by Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
During the service Fr Prodromos Souris will be ordained into the Diaconate.
Refreshments will follow in the monastery’s refectory.
12.30pm – 1.30pm
Hierarchical Trisagion & Wreath Laying Ceremony at the State War Memorial in Kings Park presided by Archbishop Makarios of Australia and in the presence of the Greek Consul in Perth, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou, for the Battle of Crete and the Pontian Genocide.
5.00pm
Official blessing and opening of the Archdiocesan District of Perth offices and St Basil’s Premises
6.00pm
Open Supper and refreshments for everyone at the Archdiocese Conference Room in Dianella in the presence of Archbishop Makarios.
Monday 30th May
7.00am – 11.00
Ordination of Fr Prodromos into the second level of priesthood (Presbyter) at the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield.
Prior to the dismissal, Archbishop Makarios will confer upon Fr Emmanuel Stamatiou the title of Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne
Refreshments in the monastery’s refectory will follow
Tuesday 31st May
11.10am – Departure of Archbishop Makarios of Australia for Sydney
