Archbishop Makarios of Australia arrived in Perth on Saturday 28 May for His fourth pastoral visit to Western Australia and first trip since the lifting of the interstate border restrictions due to the COVID Pandemic.
With great joy, His Eminence was welcomed at the airport by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Archepiscopal Vicar of Perth, His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Brisbane, the Very Rev. Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Fr. Ieronymos, who is the current Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St George Yellow Rock in Sydney, the clergy of the district, the President of the Hellenic Community of WA, Mr Paul Afkos, and the faithful.
Following His arrival at the airport, His Eminence departed to the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield where a monastic lunch was served.
In the afternoon of the same day, a synaxis was held where His Eminence addressed the clergy of the Archdiocesan District of Perth and reminded all of the importance of unity and orthodox ethos within the Church.
