The head of the “Greece 2021” committee, Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki, visited Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece this afternoon.
The meeting was held in an extremely warm climate. This meeting the sign of a close collaboration that will highlight the pivotal role of the Church to the 1821 Greek War of Independence.
“In the struggle for independence, preservation of our language and our national identity, the Church has left its indelible mark,” Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki stressed while underlining the need for all Greeks to work together to re-establish Greece in the international community.
On his part, the Archbishop was very pleased with this meeting and informed Angelopoulou-Daskalaki about the important work of the Special Synodical Committee for Cultural Identity. He also proposed that she should hold a meeting with Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros in order to achieve the best possible result.
