On March 21, Metropolitan Nicholas, together with Fr. Nick Kotsis and the Greek community surrounding the town of Ypsilanti, Michigan commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
The town is proudly named after the Greek revolutionary, Demetrios Ypsilantis.
The Governor of Washington, Jay Inslee, issued the Greek Independence Day proclamation on March 15, 2021, to honor the 200 anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
Furthermore, the Virginia Senate Resolution No. 516 honoring the Greek Orthodox communities in Virginia on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of Greek Independence.
The Archdiocese of America in announcement extended congratulations to Fr. Nicholas G. Bacalis of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Richmond, Virginia on getting the Resolution passed.
