Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Bolaris received recently Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria.
The Patriarch is visiting Athens for a series of co-operation meetings, particularly concerning the missionary work of the Patriarchate in Africa. During his collaboration with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, issues related to the mission of the Missionary Metropolises in Africa were addressed, focusing on the field of education and health. Particular mention was made of the Patriarchate’s planning for the renovation of the monumental Averoff building complex in Alexandria, for the needs of the Cultural Center of the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Action of the Patriarchate in Africa.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked the Patriarch for his honourable invitation to visit critical sites of tension of the missionary work and to co-operate with the governments of the respective African states.
