Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Karlovasi, Samos to see the damage in the Panagia Theotokos Church, and committed himself to restore the church. “I will take care of this emblematic church and restore it in consultation with the special engineers and the Ministry of Culture so that the bells ring again because it is a duty to the history of this beautiful place,” he noted.
After his visit to Vathi, Kyriakos Mitsotakis met the Mayor of Western Samos, Alexandros Lymperis, in Karlovasi who thanked him for the “really immediate response” and discussed the problems caused by the earthquake.
The organizations of the island expressed satisfaction for the immediate mobilization of the Greek State during the meeting that took place in Vathi, the first stop of the prime minister’s visit to the quake-affected Samos. In Vathi, the Greek prime minister met and thanked the staff of the rescue teams and the army as well as the volunteers who collect damage registration applications and then toured the city to see up close the damage in buildings and businesses.
