One of the most important initiatives in the history of the protection of the Holocaust commemoration was held in Brussels on Sunday with the IHRA Member Countries adopting the IHRA 2020 Ministerial Declaration, according to Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is the largest international organisation that unites governments and experts to strengthen, advance and promote Holocaust education, research and remembrance worldwide.
As noted, at a thrilling meeting, twenty years after the Stockholm Declaration, the ministers of the 35 member states of the IHRA reaffirmed their commitment to the Stockholm principles and renewed the objectives of the Alliance by forming a document of 14 measures that underpin the ultimate objective of IHRA.
Greece was represented at this historic summit by Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, who in his speech described the achievements of combating anti-Semitism in Greece so far, including the elimination of the Nazi representation in the Hellenic Parliament by members of the Golden Dawn Party, as it is pointed out in the same announcement.
