The Governor of Alexandria, Mohamed El-Sherif, who was head of a large delegation of the Alexandria authorities and military authorities, sent the best wishes for the New Year to Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, on behalf of Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
The Patriarch of Alexandria expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and was very satisfied with the joint cooperation of Egypt, Greece and Cyprus in all areas for the benefit of the people and all the Mediterranean.
“Greeks, Cypriots and Egyptians shake our hands and our friendship is guaranteed on the waters of the Mediterranean,” said Patriarch Theodore.
“We are all fighting for world peace,” Patriarch Theodore pointed out to Alexandria Governor Mohamed El-Sherif, and presented him with the medal of the Lion of St Mark with a star.
On his part, the Governor of Alexandria, Mohamed El-Sherif, thanked the Patriarch, whom he described as a dear old friend. He thanked him for what he did for Egypt and the people of the world and stressed that “we are always on your side and on your flock for, whenever necessary, given our hearts are open,” while also extending his best wishes to all the Greeks of Alexandria.
