On Saturday, October 12, Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros, Katerini, and Platamon, in his capacity as a Professor of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, paid a visit to the Theological School of Belgrade. The Metropolitan was in Serbia to speak at an International Theological Conference and took the opportunity to reunite with his long-time friend, Professor Nenad Milosevits, a respected Liturgy scholar at the Belgrade Theological School.
Metropolitan Georgios was warmly welcomed by professors and students at the entrance of the School. Together, they visited the Church of St. John the Theologian, which serves as an internship venue for theology students. The visit then proceeded to a meeting room, where a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences took place. Greek Protopresbyter Fr. Panagiotis Karatasios, currently officiating in Belgrade, also attended the gathering.
It is noteworthy that the Holy Metropolis of Kitros annually hosts groups of students from various clerical schools of the Serbian Patriarchate, many of whom continue their studies at the Theological School of Belgrade.
During the visit, Metropolitan Georgios accepted an invitation for scientific collaboration and academic exchanges, pledging to advance this initiative through personal channels and through the Department of Theology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. This visit highlights the deepening ecclesiastical and academic bonds between Greece and Serbia.
