During a brief stopover in Singapore, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was warmly welcomed by Metropolitan Konstantinos of Singapore, the Ambassador of Greece, Georgios Dogoritis, and Ayse Korkmaz, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Turkey. The Patriarch’s arrival on the island of Sentosa was marked by a traditional greeting from the local Orthodox community, who offered flowers and chanted hymns in accordance with South Asian customs.
Despite the early hour of his arrival, the Patriarch expressed his gratitude to the faithful, who remained sleepless to offer him such a heartfelt welcome. After blessing the community, he settled at the hotel where he had cordial meetings with the Turkish and Greek Ambassadors, Mehmet Burçin Gönenli and Georgios Dogoritis.
By mid-morning, the Ecumenical Patriarch and his entourage departed for Sydney, continuing his journey for the upcoming official visit.
