On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10 a.m., Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem will visit the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, where he will meet with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens.
It is recalled that this will be the first meeting between the Archbishop and the Patriarch of Jerusalem since the Hamas attack of October 7, 2002, which marked the beginning of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians.
From the beginning of the conflict, the Archbishop expressed his shock at the situation and called for an immediate end to the war and the return of the prisoners to their homes.
Emphasizing that children and civilians, in general, have a right to life, he pointed out that “we, as religious leaders, are joining our voices in calling for an end to the war and for talks to begin so that we can achieve peace. We are taking action and trying to open “roads” so that humanitarian aid can reach those in need.
