Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece yesterday, October 11, 2023, at the Archdiocese of Athens.
In addition to the Ecumenical Patriarch, Primates and Representatives of foreign Churches arrived in Athens on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday, October 11, in order to take part in the International Scientific Conference for the 100th anniversary of the journal “Theologia” (Theology).
Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros participates as a member of the Organizing Committee chaired by Archbishop Ieronymos.
At the end of their meeting, the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Archbishop of Athens went to the Cathedral of Athens where the festive opening of the International Scientific Conference for the 100th anniversary of the Journal “Theology” was held, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Primates, Delegations of Autocephalous Orthodox Churches, as well as other high-ranking guests.
The opening of the International Scientific Conference was attended by members of the Council of Ministers, rectors from universities, generals.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew opened the conference.
Afterwards, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, addressed the conference.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece also gave a speech. He spoke about the importance of the Conference and expressed his joy for the presence of Primates of the Orthodox Churches from all over the world.
“Theology is inextricably linked to worship,” he said in his speech.
Finally, he thanked the attendees for their participation, and marked the end of the opening of the conference.
The Conference will continue today, Thursday, October 12, at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall.
